I have read many complaints that the 03 and 04 Tahoe are also having the same issues. Remove the instrument panel cluster by tilting the bottom of the cluster outward. I feel unsafe in my car that has low mileage that has been well taken care of. This could cause a fire and we wouldn't know until it was too late. The key had to be good in order to confirm power was present on both legs of the fuse. While driving speeds ranging from approximately 35 mph or more, the speedometer and the temperature gauges displayed inaccurate readings regardless of the speed being traveled.
Dealer replaced instrument panel cluster, steering shaft and cruise control sensor. Tilt steering wheel in down position. The dealer advised the contact that the entire instrument cluster would need to be replaced. The speedometer will read significantly over the actual speed or will remain at zero. I knew that had to be incorrect but I slowed down anyway just because I was unsure. Recently all of the gauges stopped working at the same time. This 2005 Chevrolet Suburban came in with the complaint that the instrument cluster gauges do not work.
Had to take car back for the adjustment to brake pedal sensor. I alternated using the A12 and B12 terminals for a ground and tested power at both B9 and B12 using a jumper wire assembly with a halogen headlight bulb installed. Please recommend a recall for the cluster so that gm will have to be responsible for its products and customers safety. Both are 10 amp fuses. The contact had not taken his vehicle to the dealer for repair.
I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe and I just reach over 100,000 miles, but the cluster started going our at 94,000. It started messing up around 70,000 miles and the dealer says this is not a recall even though many people are having this problem with the Impalas, please help. And gm wants over 400 dollars to fix a problem they know is wayyyyyyyyyy too common and I as well as many people cant afford to fix their problem. In this case 10 amps. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired.
I know alot of people who have Impalas and their speedometers don't work either. Then the trim panel has to be carefully rolled out of the dash. I actually prefer that as it will accurately tell me if a wire pair will carry the factory rated amperage. Either one of these tests are not for the faint of heart or the uneducated. I have spoken with gm reguarding the insturment cluster problem they told me that it has only been recalled on trucks. I have even read some of the 05 like mine are starting to come up.
This is not safe driving not knowing how fast your going. The failure mileage was 41,200 and current mileage was 42,000. There are two ground wires, terminal A12 and terminal B12. Disconnect instrument panel cluster wiring harness by squeezing tab and pulling gently. The fuel and temperature gauges also read incorrectly. They is a pending settlement, but that does not help me. The hazard switch will likely pop up and will have to be turned back off.
I asked the customer how the problem had started and he told me that the speedometer has been acting up for a while. There are 47039 miles on the car. . This is a safety hazard that should be addressed through a recall. I used to think that buy an american car would do good things for our country however now think that american companys could care less about its fellow american's there safety and standing behind the product they sold. Occasionally, while driving at any speed, the speedometer would register zero or would register 20 to 30 mph.
The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The failure had occurred on three or four occasions. The contact stated the transmission, speed odometer and antilock brake is faulty. The steering column will need to be tilted fully down and the shifter placed in the lowest gear setting. I have kids and I travel alot so I think chevy should re-call this soon.
The manufacturer stated that because the vehicle was not included in a recall, no repair or compensation would be made. Electrical problems chevy tahoe; is the computer have to reset. This has been going on with the vehicle for the past 2 months, and don't have the money to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. The failure mileage was 100,000. The contact was concerned that only the stepper motor would need replacement as opposed to the entire instrument cluster. This is a safety issue due to I nolonger have correct information on the speed that I'm driving with my children in the car.
