Thousands of dollars and almost 10 months in a hotel. Waiting for the next light to showup on the dashboard of this car. There are few troubleshooting steps to confirm the problem. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. If no one is available, you can back up into a retail strip shopping center that has reflective mirrored window… Take my advice here on this part replacement.
It is diagnosed problem with starter. I will say the altenator was most likely made by Denso, which makes most parts in the Toyota and Lexus line up. If its charging capacity drops too low, it may not hold enough power to start your vehicle. It sounds as if it is driveable at least right now , try taking it to Autozone and have the battery and charging system checked. You condem a car brand becasue of one part failure. From researching this issue,it appears to be a known problem with the year and model. Lexus said the battery wasn't defective just went bad and charged me 125.
I suggest you few help links,with complete troubleshooting and solution for these types of issues. I was able to reset the rear windows the same way I did flip the child lock on the door as well. I think this is a free service. I took the car to dealer for service who claimed they have never seen this before. Be warned that going this route will clear out all presets including those for your radio, seats, navigation, etc. Remove tension from the serpentine belt then turn the pulley back and forth with your fingers.
Have some one look at them while you apply the signal lights. Let car run for 20 - 30 minutes and all should be well. Has your Lexus lost a little pep in its step? Other manufacturers are subject to parts problems, too. You need a 12V, 3 Watt bulb that looks like a fuse. The leakage definitely caused the battery to fail, not because the battery went bad. It should make no noticable noise and should turn smoothly. We have no idea how the previous owner maintained, or worse yet, didn't maintain the vehicle.
